From Wednesday 4 September there will be a 'School Streets' scheme starting on and around Medlock Way.
Our Residential Enablement Service at Medlock Court is based on Medlock Way, and so this information is important for anyone that uses or visits that street.
'School Streets' are part of a borough-wide collection of measures being introduced to tackle road safety concerns and congestion around schools. They will also help to enable active travel (by increasing confidence to walk, scoot or cycle to school). You can read more about 'School Streets' on Oldham Council's website.
The hours of 08:15 β 09:15 and 14:45 β 15:45 Monday β Friday will be the times affected.
If you are driving down Medlock Way or the other streets highlighted on the document attached below during these times, you may be fined. Outside of these times, itβs business as usual:
St Edwards RC Primary School & Hey with Zion Primary School - Camera Plan.pdf
- Soft Launch: Wednesday 4 September
- New traffic measures begin
- Parents and residents can adjust to the changes
- Official Launch: Monday 9 September
- ANPR cameras go live
- Non-compliance will result in a warning letter, followed by a fine for continued violations
Permanent staff at Medlock Court will be exempt, and our team there are currently completing exemption forms. But visitors (family/friends), colleagues from across MioCare and partner organisations, nurses, GP's, deliveries companies, etc are not exempt.
Clearly, we don't want people getting fined as they go to and from Medlock Court, so please relay this information to anyone needing to know.
Many thanks.
