“Reflect” | “Connect” | “Support”
The MioCare Group is supporting a national day to remember those who have passed away during the Covid-19 pandemic, and to show support for everyone who has been bereaved...
Many of you will have heard of Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity. They provide frontline nursing and hospice care, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.
It’s Marie Curie who have led the way in setting up this National Day of Reflection taking place next Tuesday 23rd March (which is the anniversary of the UK going into the first national lockdown). The charity estimate that over three million people have been bereaved since the start of the pandemic, with many unable to properly say goodbye to loved ones or grieve.
We know that in our services and communities here at the MioCare Group and across our borough, and also in our personal lives, many of us have suffered loss this year. It’s only added to what has been an incredibly tough 12 months.
So alongside Oldham Council and the rest of #TeamOldham, we’re committed to supporting the National Day of Reflection which will give us and the rest of the nation a moment to remember, grieve and celebrate those who are sadly no longer with us and show support for families, friends and colleagues who are grieving.
We agree with Marie Curie chief executive Matthew Reed who said "it's important that we all come together to reflect on our collective loss, celebrate the lives of the special people no longer here, support those who've been bereaved and look towards a much brighter future".
If you’re able and would like to take part, please pause for a minute at 12 noon on 23rd March to reflect and remember those who have died during the pandemic; and if you know someone who’s suffered loss, take a moment to connect with them.
