Our Managing Director Karl Dean is leaving the MioCare Group after more than seven years at the helm.

Karl has played a critical role in establishing the MioCare Group as a leading high-quality provider of care and support services as well as many other achievements. Karl leaves with the very best wishes of his team, the Group’s Board, as well as Council colleagues and stakeholders across the borough.

MioCare has played a key role in Oldham under Karl’s leadership including the integration and transformation of hospital discharge, intermediate care and enablement services which was recognised as best practice by the National Care Forum and the Care Provider Alliance. Karl’s tenure has also seen significant growth with MioCare securing a £10m Extra Care contract, developing a new day service and the recent delivery of the Holly Bank Housing with Care scheme which provides 20 apartments for people with a learning disability.

Karl will leave at the end of January 2023 to take up the role of Deputy Chief Executive at Grosvenor Hart Homes.

Some words from Karl as he says goodbye…

"It has been an absolute privilege to play my part in the Group’s journey and I leave with many great experiences and relationships. Oldham is a very special place to work and in particular, I will never forget the way the people of the borough pulled together during the pandemic and the incredible work of MioCare staff during this uniquely challenging time. I leave at a time where the MioCare Group is in a strong position to continue playing a key role in delivering better outcomes for the people of Oldham as part of the local integrated health and social care system."

And some words from Chair of the MioCare Group Board Cllr Nyla Ibrahim, in terms of future plans and the appointment of an Interim Managing Director…

"Thanks for everything, Karl. Yours are big shoes to fill after seven years of fantastic leadership. We are very grateful for all you have done and want to wish you all the very best in your new role."

Cllr Nyla Ibrahim added…

"As we think about the future, I am delighted to announce that our current Director of Care Rob Jackson has been appointed as Interim Managing Director of the MioCare Group from 1st January 2023. The Board are confident that Rob will continue and build upon the great work that has taken place under Karl’s leadership. In the new year the Board and the Council will commence a process to appoint a new permanent MD."

From everyone at the MioCare Group, thank you Karl.
