"I typed notes in myself, and I took pictures of my activities and garden on the new tablet. What do you think of that?"

Well, in answer to your question Simon, we think that’s brilliant!

Simon is a long-term Supported Living resident – we know him well and have supported him for a number of years. That support is being strengthened further by the use of new digital care planning software.

As colleagues at Medlock Court continue to use Care Control consistently and successfully, the introduction of the software into other services gathers pace.

An update from Sandra, our Digital Change Lead...

"We’ve now started the rollout of Care Control across our Supported Living Service. Leading the way is a small support team based in Bardsley and the resident they support there, Simon. A big thanks to the team who have completed initial training and taken to it all so well. It’s fantastic that Simon has been really involved with the changes in his care planning and the team are now completing daily notes digitally."

There have been some very clear ‘quick-wins’ when it comes to recording Simon’s ongoing support using Care Control, as opposed to a more paper-based, manual process.

Community Support Worker, Sarah, explains a bit more...

"I have to say, I like it! We were slightly apprehensive at first, thinking it might take longer to learn and therefore slow us down. But we’ve done the first training sessions and with input from Sandra, we began transferring some of the existing notes onto the system, before starting to make new notes and plans on there too.

It gives us more time with Simon and actually, more in common with Simon as well because he’s keen to take part in documenting his day."

Rob, the MioCare Group’s Managing Director, visited Simon at his home last week and got a warm welcome.

They talked football, favourite local takeaways, World Autism Acceptance Week and of course all things MioCare. Rob got a tour of the house and garden, and was asked his opinion on recent home improvements, including colour schemes in the living room and new garden furniture (made at our Wellbeing Service)!

Rob added...

"Thank you Simon and Sarah for your hospitality today. Always good to make a visit, but seeing the difference Care Control is making as we progress our digital journey, made it even better!"

Cloud storage and recording via a tailor-made device makes things easier and more efficient for colleagues, including quicker but actually very detailed handovers. All this points to more person-centred care and we are looking forward to introducing Care Control in our other locations and services.

Finally, possibly our favourite photo uploaded into the Cloud so far…

Simon couldn’t get out to his exercise class when we had recent snowfall, but no worries – he swapped gym weights for pints of milk and did a home workout instead.

Well played Simon. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
