Back in October, Oldham Cares hosted the 'Devolution Difference' event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

That event marked the official launch of Oldham Cares – an alliance of organisations across the borough – working to join up gaps between the town’s health and social care systems in order to makes thing better for people who live here.

The MioCare Group is one of those organisations in the alliance. You can read up on the others via the Oldham Cares website:

Since then, partners in the alliance have not only begun working together more closely both in terms of staff location and the sharing of best practice and expertise, but they’ve encouraged those using the health and social care system in the town to raise their voice and give their opinion about how things should change. This was done through the #BigConversationOldham – which gave people the chance to feedback and speak to providers both online and in person at an Oldham Cares ‘pop-up shop’ in the town centre. A place where people could drop in for information and even have a free health check and / or flu jab.

Our own Karl Dean (Managing Director of the MioCare Group) spoke at the aforementioned ‘Devolution Difference’ event, stating the alliance’s commitment to a more person-centred approach. This is a two-way conversation with both parties (those providing services as well as those using them) talking and listening to each other.

Karl took part in the #BigConversationOldham too, recording a video that answered some important questions that had been raised through this feedback. We uploaded it to our Facebook page recently and you can view it below…
