Safeguarding Adults Week (20th - 24th November) is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. At MioCare, we’re holding a joint Safeguarding Working Group and Champions Meeting during the course of the week to do just that!

Our work continues apace, with colleagues across the Group learning new things as we embed best practice. We want to ensure we work effectively with our staff, our partners and importantly, the people using our services every day. It’s crucial that we fully understand what being safe means to the people we support.

We’re grateful for Oldham Safeguarding Adult’s Board’s partnership and guidance, and our approach is clearly aligned with OSAB’s strategy, policy and procedures.

A few words from Dorothy Delooze, the MioCare Group’s Director of Care…

“We’ve recently launched our Safeguarding Champions and Safeguarding Working Group initiatives. We want meaningful collaboration to be a thread throughout our organisation and if we really listen to people, then co-production will be a natural and daily part of life.

We’re building on this approach by delivering training that has a focus on assisting the people we support to understand more about what safeguarding means to them. This training will be rolled out at the end of 2023 and on into the new year.”

We’re grateful to our Safeguarding Champions who are undergoing further training so they can act as ‘in-service’ role models and be available to guide and support their teammates. Our Champions meet regularly to discuss all things ‘safeguarding’, sharing learning and experience while building on their knowledge, skill and understanding.
