For Muslims across the globe this is a sacred time, where commonly those following the Islamic faith will abstain from food and drink for the 30 days of Ramadan during daylight hours (from dawn to dusk), as a means of self-reflection.

Muslims believe that fasting has multiple benefits such as increasing willpower, compassion for others, strengthening community relations and creates an opportunity to connect closer to their faith and become more spiritual.
