From 1st–30th June, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies celebrate their identities, accomplishments, and reflect on the struggle for equality.

The reason Pride Month is in June, is that it marks the police raid that prompted the Stonewall riots – which in turn led to the establishment of LGBTQ+ rights.

In the UK, the first official UK Gay Pride Rally was held in London in the summer of 1972, so 2022 marked the 50th year of the Pride movement on our shores, with this year being the 53rd.

And if you missed it previously, please read this wonderful poem by Natalie - a Senior Community Support Worker in our Supported Living Service - that references Stonewall and more.

The image above is the Oldham Pride logo - do make sure you keep an eye on their Facebook page in the build-up to to this years Oldham Pride celebrations in July too.

We are looking forward to being there again...last year's event was fantastic!
