Those in the Shared Lives Oldham scheme marked a special few days in the calendar recently, as #SharedLivesWeek was celebrated locally and nationally too:

Jean, Katie, Miriam, Sam and many more told stories of inspiring care happening across town, sharing words and photos through some new social media pages.

It's great that the whole world can see the difference being made in people's lives, as they support and share them with each other...

Could you be a long-term Shared Lives Carer in your hometown of Oldham?

Shared Lives Carers are people who offer a wide range of care and support to adults with a range of needs including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and mental health issues.

Are you over 18 years of age and able to work with vulnerable people? Do you have a spare room in your home? Do you have time and aspiration to support someone and really change their life? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are seeking people with a strong value base who would be willing and able to welcome a person into their homes to live as a member of their family, either on a long-term basis and/or for shorter periods.

Shared Lives Carers receive an allowance for the support they provide of between £250 - £450 per week (dependant on the type of support offered). Carers also receive four weeks paid respite per year and are eligible for a discount scheme.

The Shared Lives Oldham staff team are on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year to support this network of incredibly special people.
