“I last wrote to her on her birthday. I think I should send another letter to my Queen.”

Many of you will know Alan. If you don’t, then let us introduce you to this very well-liked, football-mad Oldham resident…

Very rarely without a smile, Alan’s love for life and love for Oldham Athletic F.C. is well-documented. He can’t wait to be back at games and his home is decorated with photos and memorabilia that act as reminders of great times at Boundary Park.

Though now, he’s going to need to make space for something he received in the post recently; a card and message from Her Majesty The Queen.

Much like his parents before him, Alan loves the Queen. The news of Prince Philip's passing saddened him and in truth, mainly due to his worry over Elizabeth, as he calls her.

Well, they are pen pals after all…

When Prince Phillip passed away, Alan wrote a kind letter of sympathy to Queen Elizabeth. He also proudly detailed a few of his recent achievements, including some significant weight loss and the removal of his BiPap breathing machine.

We’re proud of our pal and Her Majesty must have been thankful and proud too because she replied!

Have a look at the photos below...

He was absolutely delighted when this dropped through the letterbox and it will take pride of place.

Alan’s Community Support Worker Donna said that when he saw Ascot in the calendar, he was worried about who was going to be at the Queen’s side but was relieved to see her eldest step up…

“I was pleased that Charles was taking her. She’ll be alright!”

You’re a star Alan and we thank you for enthusiasm. It’s a joy to support you as you support others, whether they’re down the road at Latics or down the M1 at Buckingham Palace!
